Pull-Apart Party Loaf Recipe | I Can Cook That (2024)

Let’s be honest, one of the best parts of Super Bowl Sunday is the food. Although I’m excited to hang out with friends as we root for (so far) the most successful graduate in our class (Go Flacco!) and watch some amazing commercials, I’m more focused on the tasty treats that come along with the viewing.

I’ve been in the Football Food spirit for a while now. Last week, Land O’ Lakes and Rebecca of Foodie With Family hosted a webinar all about food for the big game.

We discussed a bunch of different group-friendly snacks, which ones travel well to other locations, and even how to keep food safe while it is sitting out during the game. Land O’ Lakes has a great round up of game day favorites, so be sure to check it out for some inspiration here. I learned a lot, but I was unfortunately kind of distracted. Why? Because the first darn photo they showed me was of a Pull-Apart Party Loaf.

Look at that loaf!

I loved it so much, I made a test batch of my own to share with you! I also received a nifty prize package for participating, plus one to give away, woo hoo! More on that below…

So this recipe is one created in the Land O’ Lakes Kitchen. Original recipe can be found here.

Ingredients:

  • 1 (16- to 18-ounce)round loaf ofsourdough bread
  • 1/4 cupLand O Lakes® Butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoondry ranch dressing mix
  • 1/2 cup (about 5 slices)cooked chopped thick-cut bacon
  • 1/4 cup jalapeño peppers, chopped
  • 10 (3/4-ounce) slicesLand O Lakes® Deli American Cheese, chopped
  • 2 teaspoonschopped fresh parsley, if desired

Have you ever made bacon in the oven before? I finally tried it out and highly recommend it! If you’re not in the mood, feel free to make bacon in whatever way makes you happy. But I’ve included a how-to for oven bacon because, why not?

Like a baking sheet with foil. Add the 5 bacon slices (or 6, so you have one to snack on, I won’t judge) to the baking sheet and place the sheet on the center rack of the oven. (Note: your oven is NOT preheated)

Turn the oven to 400 degrees F and set the timer to 18 to 20 minutes. Remove the bacon from the oven and place on a plate lined with paper towels.

While waiting for the bacon to cook, prepare the rest of your ingredients. Melt the butter and chop your jalapenos. Place two pieces aluminum foil, crossing one over the other, on flat surface.

Cut bread, using serrated knife, in grid pattern, spacing about 1-inch between rows (I’m not terribly methodical so there might be some diamonds in there instead of squares…) Do not cut through bottom crust. Set aside.

When the bacon is done, turn your oven down to 350 degrees. Roughly chop the bacon. Combine melted butter and ranch dressing in medium bowl.

Add chopped bacon, jalapenos, and cheese, mixingwell.

I forgot to add the bacon before taking the photo! Sorry :/

Place loaf in center of aluminum foil pieces. Spoon cheese mixture into cut areas of bread.

Wrap foil loosely around bread. Place onto ungreased baking sheet. Bake for 30 minutes. Pull back foil; continue baking 5-10 minutes or until loaf is golden brown and cheese is melted.

Sprinkle with parsley.

Serve immediately. Pull out individual bread pieces, using tongs or 2 forks (or your fingers, again no judgement) and reaching down into loaf to include filling and bread.

So after making this, don’t you think these would be so fun as individual sour dough rolls? I just might have to try that for the Super Bowl and will report back!

The presentation of this is fantastic. A tip I learned at the webinar is that if you’re traveling with this to another location, take it out of the oven after the 30 minutes. Be sure to ask the host before arriving, but ask if you can use their oven. When you arrive at their house. pull back the foil, and bake for 5-10 minutes at 350. Snazzy, right?

Now on to the giveaway.
