Please tell me it’s not just me, and that there are a few others out there having some difficulty getting motivated and pushing through this New Year week? Slowly, I have realized that the holidays are over (so sad), and real life is back in full swing, with or without me, so I better get a move on. It’s just taken longer than normal.
With that being said, this sneak peak recap of some of the 2012 favorite recipes and food ideas posted on Balancing Beauty and Bedlam, as well as my new 10 Minute Dinners, is one week late. 🙂
It’s been fun to peruse some of my favorite food posts, but it was nearly impossible to select my ten favorite. I started with a few from 10 Minute Dinners, and then realized that I was almost to ten, and that didn’t leave many to choose from this blog. 🙂 Hopefully, you’ll enjoy these as much as I did.
Dump and Run Taco Soup, yep, one of our family favorites that we could eat every day is this easy taco soup that mixes up in minutes.
Sesame Chicken Tenders: for your picky kids. Every one loves them.
Be inspired by realizing that with a little bit of forethought, so much of your dinner prep can be done in just minutes. The crazy day I came home with 30 pounds of chicken for pennies on the dollar. Cooking chicken in bulk.
Cooking up my ground beef in bulk has been a meal time miracle worker, but cooking it up in the crock pot, even better: Crock pot Taco Meat.
You can not go wrong with quick, homemade bread – 5 Minute Artisan Style Bread .
The Perfect short cut tip for easy homemade Egg Mc Muffins. Yes, I bake the eggs in a muffin tin.
My family’s favorite: Easy Taco Casserole
Fancy Fix ups for Pound Cake, 8 Ways to dress up Storebought pound cake for easy entertaining.
Make your own Magic Bullet by using mason jars and your own blender. Perfect for parties!
Homemade Chocolate Peanut Butter Granola Bars: such a yummy and healthy snack.
Another 10 Minute Dinner. I just hadn’t launched the new blog yet. 🙂 So easy and good – Cheesey Cheddar Ranch Chicken.
Oh my, who is hungry now? I am just getting warmed up.
Hopefully, this will spark some great food ideas for your meal plan this week. I am getting ready to start a new Pantry and Freezer Challenge. I only do well though with accountability and I am counting on you all to be that for me. My husband insists that we eat and use up some of what we have packed in our freezer and pantry, so I’ll be getting creative within a few weeks and hope you’ll join me. It always feels great to be resourceful in the kitchen, spark some creativity that has been on hold, and save on the food budget in huge ways during the Challenge month.
Now I can’t wait to see what you’re whipping up in the kitchen for this week’s Tasty Tuesday. I love all your food inspiration and thanks for sharing.

Thank you for mentioning the after-holiday slump. I get somewhat depressed after all that running around and then suddenly nothing. I despise taking down my decorations, yet get sick of all the extra stuff around. Every year it’s a struggle for me to get up and at it. I’m glad to know I’m not the only one.
